St Theresa’s CCD Newsletter
Blessings to ALL,
We hope you have had a wonderful Christmas and a happy new year! The start time for mass on Sunday mornings will be at 8 a.m. starting in January-April. I would like to focus on our families and the importance of our kid’s religious teachings.
5Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. 6These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. 9Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.” Deuteronomy 6:5-9
I really would like everybody to think about the reasons you want your child/children to have religion in their life. Why is it so important for your child to receive their sacraments? Have you talked with your child about what it means to make a sacrament? The importance of mass, receiving communion, confession, praying, and giving thanks.
Our Father, surely there is not a heart among us here that does not echo the prayer that we might learn what these things mean, and see them wrought out in our own lives. Teach us to begin where you began, Lord, with us. Help us to see that we who are parents set the tone of our homes, quite unconsciously, without realizing it. Teach us to begin there, Lord. In Christ's name, Amen.
The Confirmation class will be going on some church tours in Topeka. Parents make sure you check for Helena’s email, some important information is talked about in there.
I also would like to remind you all of the importance of your child’s attendance. Not only does your child miss out on their lesson for the week, but on youth mass nights, they are signed up to participate by serving, reading or gifts. I understand that sometimes it is impossible to make it to class because of illness, work, school function, etc. Please be courteous, and let me or your teacher know if your child/children will not make it to class. Our teachers volunteer their time to plan and teach our youth out of the kindness of their hearts.
The 2nd grade class will be making their First Reconciliation February 7th. So it is VERY important that your kids are making it to class every week!
I would like to thank you for your continued support of our program and your child/children’s religious education. Please feel free to contact me, if you have any suggestions, concerns, or questions. Looking forward to our 2018 year. Look below for any changes for January.
Thank you and God Bless,
